Pets are at the mercy of their owners for most of their lives. But when their owner passes away it leaves the animal helpless. It’s a scary time for any animal. That is what happened to 4-year-old Regan. After Regan’s owner passed, Regan ended up at a shelter in Lebanon, Tennessee.
It took nearly three days to win the dogs trust. But after that Regan would get excited when Kim visitied. However Regan would only respond to Kim. So the only thing that could happen next was for Kim to foster Regan. And that’s exactly what she did.
“You could tell she was scared and afraid. I would go in and give her treats and sit with her and talk. Our shelter is wonderful, and our volunteers do such a great job with the animals. But I hated for her to be there if she could be curled up on a coach at my house.”
“I think she felt secure in touching someone familiar. She was so nervous and scared in the shelter, but as soon as she jumped into my car, she seemed so grateful,” Rezac said.
Regan was able to capture a part of the moment on video so she could share it and raise awareness of Regan’s need for a new home. The video was a huge success being viewed over 3 million times.
It only took 2 days until Regan was adopted. The couple that adopted her knew she was meant to be with them.
